A former racing driver from America, Mario Gabriele Andretti is of Italian descent. Andretti is only one of two drivers who have triumphed in the Formula One, IndyCar, World Sportscar Championship, and NASCAR CC.
He is one of the most successful drivers in the history of racing. Additionally, he has triumphed in sprint and midget car events. He was born on February 28, 1940.
Mario Gabriele Andretti won four IndyCar championships (three under USAC sanctioning and one under CART) and IROC VI in 1978. Along with Juan Pablo Montoya, he continues to be the only driver to have won a race in the NASCAR Cup Series, Formula One, and an Indianapolis 500.
He is also the only driver to have won the Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500, and the Formula One World Championship. On important tracks, Andretti has a total of 109 career victories.
Only Andretti received the honor of being named “United States Driver of the Year” in three distinct decades.

Dee Ann and Mario Andretti met when they were quite young. In 1955, Mario and his family left their native Italy for Montana and settled in Nazareth.
Because they couldn’t afford to rent an apartment, the couple married in 1961 and moved into a home owned by her parents.
On Mario’s rebuilt race car, Dee Ann’s wages went toward paying for engine repairs. Michael was the couple’s first child, arriving in 1962. Jeff and Barbie were their next two offspring.

Dee Ann Andretti was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on July 10, 1942. She attended Nazareth Area High School and earned her diploma there in 1960.
Dee Ann was only 15 when she first met Andretti. In Nazareth, she was instructing the Italian-born Andretti in English. A few months later, in November 1961, they were wed.
Dee Ann Andretti reared their three children while largely remaining in the background. At the age of 76, she passed away on July 2, 2018.
