DeMarcus Cousins is an American professional basketball player who plays in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Mets de Guaynabo of Puerto Rico’s Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). He was born on August 13, 1990, in Mobile, Alabama, to Monique and Jessie Cousins. DeMarcus Cousins, also known as Boogie. He has a younger brother of professional basketball player Jaleel Cousins.
Cousins attended LeFlore Magnet High School. In 2009, he was a first-team Parade All-American and played in the McDonald’s All-American Boys Game, finishing with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
He was an All-American in 2010 while playing collegiate basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. He departed Kentucky after one season and was taken by the Sacramento Kings as the fifth overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft.
Cousins was chosen to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in his first season with the Kings, and he was an NBA All-Star four times from 2015 to 2018. He has also won two gold medals with the US national team, the first in 2014 at the FIBA Basketball World Cup and the second in 2016 at the Rio Olympics.
