Who is Jon Scheyer?
Jonathan Scheyer is a former professional basketball player, who currently serves as the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He was born on August 24, 1987, in Northbrook, Illinois. He is the youngest of three children to Laury and Jim Scheyer. Jonathan started dribbling basketball at age three and competed in his first AAU national tournament six years later.
He used to play in the Fellowship of Afro-American Men (FAAM) league in Evanston, Illinois. He earned a scholarship offer from Tom Crean of Marquette University as an eighth-grader.
Scheyer was a high school All-American and captain of the Duke Blue Devils, who won the 2010 NCAA Basketball Championship.
Scheyer led the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in several statistical categories, including free-throw percentage, three-point shots per game, and assists/turnover ratio.
In June 2011, he signed a two-year contract with Euroleague contenders Maccabi Tel Aviv, the European League’s 2011 runner-up and five-time winner.
Scheyer joined Maccabi Tel Aviv when the season began on October 1, 2011. He agreed to play with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2012 Orlando Summer League.
On June 2, 2021, it was revealed that Scheyer would be Duke’s next head coach following Mike Krzyzewski’s retirement at the end of the 2021-22 season.
Following Krzyzewski’s retirement, Scheyer took over as head coach in April 2022. In his first season, he won the ACC tournament before falling in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Marcelle Provencial and Jon Scheyer married on May 6, 2017, and they had their first child Noa Marie in January 2018 and their second child Jett in August 2019.
