Messi and Roccuzzo became parents for the first time on November 2, 2012, when their son Thiago Messi was born. Messi got his newborn son’s name and handprints tattooed on his calf shortly after his birth to show off his affection for him in a permanent way.
Messi has been honest about Thiago’s influence on his life, telling El Periódico in 2013 that “my son has changed my life more than the Ballon d’Or (awards) I have.”

After Messi and his team were humiliated by Saudi Arabia in November, the sportsman told the media that Mateo fled the stadium in tears. “My family suffers the same as all Argentines, but we are happy and we are getting comfortable again because our progress now depends on us,” he explained.
In honor of Mateo’s seventh birthday in September, Roccuzzo shared a touching tribute on Instagram, characterizing her son as the family clown. “Crazy beautiful, with your batteries and energy recharged, always making us die of laughter,” she wrote in Spanish, beside a few photos of Mateo, one of whom was standing in front of a soccer net.

Ciro, Messi, and Roccuzzo’s third child was born on March 10, 2018. Messi has Ciro’s name and birth date tattooed on his calf, along with his brother’s name, and Roccuzzo has “Ciro” tattooed on her arm.
