Renate Van Gaal’s professional career is unknown, but talking about her famous father’s career: Louis Van Gaal was born in the Dutch city of Amsterdam. As a youngster, he started competing for the amateur Amsterdam team RKSV de Meer. He joined Ajax’s second team at the age of 20, but he was never chosen to play for the first squad, which at the time included midfielders like Johan Cruyff and Johan Neeskens.

In 1974 and 1975, he finished second in the Belgian top division while on loan to Royal Antwerp in the Belgian First Division.
