Biography of Scottie Pippen
Scotty Maurice Pippen Sr. was born on September 25, 1965, in Hamburg, Arkansas, to Ethel Pippen (1924–2016) and Preston Pippen (1920–1990). He is a former NBA basketball player from the United States. He competed in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 17 seasons, earning six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls. In the 1990s, Pippen—who is regarded as one of the best small forwards of all time—helped the Bulls become a championship squad and spread the NBA across the globe alongside Michael Jordan.
Pippen was selected eight times in a row for the NBA All-Defensive First Team and three times for the All-NBA First Team. He was a seven-time NBA All-Star and the 1994 MVP of the NBA All-Star Game. During the 1996–97 NBA season, he was selected as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. He is one of four players whose Chicago Bulls jersey has been retired (the others being Jerry Sloan, Bob Love, and Jordan). He was an integral member of the 1992 and 1996 Chicago Bulls championship teams, which were also named two of the Top 10 Teams in NBA History.
He played 12 seasons with the Bulls, one with the Houston Rockets, and four with the Portland Trail Blazers throughout the course of his 17-year career, reaching the postseason 16 times in all. When Pippen was chosen on the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in October 2021, he was once again recognized as one of the game’s greatest of all time.
