George Edward Foreman is an American former professional boxer, entrepreneur, minister, and author. He competed from 1967 until 1997. He has won two heavyweight world championships and an Olympic gold.

After a difficult upbringing, George decided to try amateur boxing and took home the gold in the heavyweight division in the 1968 Summer Olympics. In 1973, he overcame Joe Frazier, who was unbeaten at the time, in the second round to win the heavyweight world championship.

He twice successfully defended the championship before losing to Muhammad Ali in his debut match as a professional in the famed Rumble in the Jungle in 1974. After failing Jimmy Young in 1977, George decided to retire because he was unable to win another title opportunity.

After one successful title defense against Axel Schulz, he gave up the WBA belt rather than face his required title defense. On June 28, 1995, Foreman also gave up the IBF title. He was the oldest world heavyweight champion in history at the age of 46 years, 169 days.

After Bernard Hopkins, he was the second-oldest boxer in any weight division and the oldest heavyweight champion in history. He also holds the distinction of being the oldest person ever to win the heavyweight boxing world championship. He retired in 1997 at the age of 48 with a final record of 76 wins (68 knockouts), 5 defeats, and no draws.
