Sara Lomax is a journalist, media executive, and entrepreneur from the United States. Lomax is the president and CEO of WURD Radio, Pennsylvania’s only African-American-owned talk radio station. She is the second wife of British racing driver James Hunt, who won the Formula One World Championship in 1976.
Lomax is one of six siblings and the youngest daughter of physician and entrepreneur Walter P. Lomax Jr. In 2003, Lomax purchased WURD 900 AM.
Education
Sara Lomax graduated in 1983 from The George School, a Quaker boarding and day high school in Newtown, Pennsylvania. She attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and graduated in 1987. She is also a graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Career
Lomax co-founded HealthQuest: Total Wellness for Body, Mind, and Spirit, the first nationally published African-American consumer health magazine in the United States. Among other publications, she has written for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Miami Herald, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Essence Magazine, and American Visions Magazine. Her essay “Black Mothers/Sons” was published in the book “Our Black Sons Matter” in 2016.
Lomax has previously taught communications at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as a collaborative course at the University of Pennsylvania. Lomax was elected to the Board of Trustees of Arcadia University in 2019.
Sara Lomax-Reese is the President and CEO of WURD Radio, LLC, the only African-American-owned talk radio station in Pennsylvania. She is credited with changing WURD Radio into a multimedia brand that offers cutting-edge, original programming on the air, online, and at community events.
Ms. Lomax-Reese coordinated the introduction of a new environmental justice journalism initiative called ecoWURD as part of the Civil digital platform.

Bio of her ex-husband James Hunt Career
James Hunt was born on August 29, 1947, in Belmont, Surrey. He was a British race car driver who won the Formula One World Championship in 1976. After retiring from racing in 1979, Hunt went into business and became a media commentator.
Hunt began his racing career in touring cars before going on to Formula Three, where he drew the attention of the Hesketh Racing team and was swiftly taken under their wing. Hunt got the moniker “Hunt the Shunt” for his frequently dangerous and action-packed exploits on the track (shunt is a British motor-racing phrase that implies “crash”).
Hunt debuted in Formula One in 1973, driving a March 731 for the Hesketh Racing team. He went on to win for Hesketh in both World Championship and non-championship races, driving their own Hesketh 308 vehicle, before joining the McLaren team at the end of 1975.
Hunt won the World Drivers’ Championship in his first year with McLaren, and he stayed with the team for two more years, though with less success, before joining the Wolf team in early 1979. Hunt retired from racing in the middle of the 1979 season after failing to complete a string of events.
After retiring from racing, he became a BBC motor racing commentator. On June 15, 1993, he died of a heart attack at the age of 45.
