Marie Evelyn is the wife of Roger Milla. They married on the 1st day of January 1984. At that moment, Roger played his football with AS Saint-Étienne club and his motive was to win his first-ever Africa Cup trophy for his nation.

The couple enjoyed a happy life together and they were blessed with two children: Albert Roger(Son), and Ruth Sandy (daughter). Albert Roger is the elder child and Ruth Sandy is the youngest child.

Evelyn lost her life in an intensive medical care unit of a French hospital after suffering from serious injuries that came from a ghastly motor accident. Evelyne’s death was a terrible event that left Roger Milla very heartbroken.

How did the accident happen?

The accident was caused by the failure of the driver to properly negotiate a bend. Which resulted in the car tumbling off the road at full speed. A close friend of Evelyn Milla, Christiane Mba was in an advanced stage of pregnancy and sadly lost her life instantly.

Evelyn and the driver were instantly rushed to the hospital where they received treatment. Evelyn was transferred to take a scan at Yaounde Central Hospital. From there, she was admitted to the Yaounde University Teaching Hospital for Intensive treatment. Since the injury was serious Evelyn was later moved out to France for intensive medication.

The aircraft that came for Evelyne left Cameroon on Friday at 5:45 pm and arrived in Paris at 12:30 am on Saturday. Roger Milla was with his wife Evelyne, on the flight.

The doctors who accompanied his wife to France called him and were optimistic about Evelyn’s chances of survival. But, unfortunately, Milla could not maintain her breath in the afternoon that same day. Evelyne’s death was a terrible event that made Roger Milla heartbroken.

Shortly after the announcement of the sad news on TV and radio stations, hundreds of Cameroon natives flooded the home of the footballer to condolences him. He received condolences from friends from all parts of the country after he returned from France after the death of his wife.

The funeral is organized after the 24th African Cup of Nations which take place in Tunisia.

Albert Roger Miller best known as Roger Milla is a Cameroonian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He was born on May 20, 1952. He was one of the first African players to achieve global stardom. He participated in three World Cups with the Cameroon national team.

He acquired international fame at age 38 by scoring four goals at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, making him the oldest goalscorer ever. He helped Cameroon become the first African team to reach the World Cup’s quarterfinals. Four years later, at the age of 42, Milla broke his record as the oldest goalscorer in the FIFA World Cup, scoring against Russia in 1994.

At the time of his retirement, he was regarded as the all-time topscorer from the African region in the FIFA World Cup finals, with five goals. However, his record was ultimately overtaken by Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan.
