Joshua Bailey is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger who is an unrestricted free agent. He was born on October 2, 1989.
He grew up in Clarington, Ontario, and played for the Clarington Toros in the OMHA Eastern AAA League. Josh was selected in the first round of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) priority draft by the Owen Sound Attack in May 2005.
He spent parts of two seasons with the Attack, scoring eighteen goals and providing thirty-four assists. The Attack traded him to the Windsor Spitfires during the 2006-07 season. He spent two seasons with the Spitfires. In the 2007-08 season, Bailey scored 29 goals and 96 points in 67 games.
Bailey was selected ninth overall by the New York Islanders in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Bailey became the third Islanders player to reach 1,000 NHL games on October 28, 2022, playing against the Carolina Hurricanes. At this point, fans’ perceptions of Bailey as a player had improved.
