His parents, Stephanie and Richard, his younger sister Brandi, and his two older brothers, Chad and Troy, all lived in Webster where he was raised. At the age of 17, Brock joined the US Army National Guard, but after being released from the service, he started working on construction sites to support himself.

While attending Webster High School, he played football and amateur wrestling. In 1999, he received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota after attending Bismarck State College, where he won the heavyweight title of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
When did he begin his wrestling?
Brock started wrestling in the World Wrestling Federation in the year 2000. Later, he and Shelton Benjamin formed the Minnesota Stretching Crew, a tag team that regularly captured the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship. Brock is still active in sports and has won numerous championships. Brock announced his desire to play professional football in 2004. His left hand, pelvis, jaw, and groin were broken when a van struck his motorcycle on April 17, 2004. Despite being chosen by the Minnesota Vikings on July 27, he nevertheless participated in a few games before being released on August 30.
